Fever in the Heartland: the KKK plot to take over America, and the WOMAN who stopped them.

I had heard of this book when it came out in 2023, but I only just yesterday began to read it. The story is shocking. It is also true. Had you ever heard of Madge Oberholzer? When you read this book or listen to Timothy Egan on this C-Span clip you WILL likely never forget her name. Egan's Author's Note at the beginning:
The following story is true. Dialogue and internal monologue are verbatim from court testimony, oral histories, autobiographies, letters, diaries, and newspaper quotes. See the source notes in the back for further details.
The epigraph at the beginning of the book:
God has no children whose rights may be safely trampled on. FREDERICK DOUGLASS
May the American Electorate WAKE UP to the evil of Trump like Indianans woke up to the evil of D. C. Stephenson after the passing of Madge Oberholzer.

Release the doggone Epstein Files/List(s) already.

American democracy is resilient!

I wholeheartedly agree with Heather Cox Richardson's argument.

Heather is far from alone in that view.

Suzanne Mettler and Robert C Lieberman in 2020 published The Recurring Crises of American Democracy: Four Threats. Mettler and Lieberman notably show the long national nightmare we're facing under Trump is nothing new.

The saving grace of the situation is that recognition of ongoing threat can and should chase away any complacency and provide confidence that WE SHALL OVERCOME... again.
